Shutdown Averted: Congress Passes Budget DealFebruary 9, 2018
After a brief Government shut down due to a small recess in the senate, Congress has officially reached a budget deal to keep the Federal government open. In recent weeks, we have seen the rise of drama surrounding the government’s budget due to various immigration bills that were tacked onto the initial budget proposal. After agreeing to debate on immigration reform at a later date, congress was able to focus on getting a budget deal done preventing millions from suffering from a government shut down.
The house of representatives voted 240-186 on a groundbreaking bill that has ripped apart Capitol Hill for years. The bill tackles the major spending issues as well as disaster relief funding which has raised the debt ceiling tremendously.
The immigration debate will resume next week. Topics like DACA and the famous ‘border wall’ will headline the debate. Are you pleased with congress’s deal?
