CTZNS ONE | July 26, 2019

Democratic Presidential hopeful, Kamala Harris made headlines Friday morning after announcing her elaborate plan to stimulate black wealth. Harris announced in a press release that her plan includes a $60B pledge to Historically Black Colleges and $12B to black businesses nationwide. She also stated that she would add $2.5B to train black teachers.

Harris described the proposal as “the next major planks in her Black agenda,” according to her campaign’s fact sheet. She details that $10B of her planned HBCU funds would be allocated to improving the schools facilities and infrastructure. The remaining $50B will go to supporting the schools STEM Programs.

The $12B allocated to Black Business will be used to create Federal contracting programs to help build black businesses from the ground up. “We can create a pipeline for ensuring that Black Americans are leading the research and entrepreneurship to grow our innovation economy and participate in the wealth it generates,” the campaign fact sheet states.

Harris plans to formerly announce her plan in Indianapolis on Friday at the National Urban League Conference.
