Washington, DC (CTZNSIX) –

South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi has been crowned Miss Universe 2019.

Another Miss Universe pageant has come and gone. Women from all over the world were honored for their class, beauty, grace, and glow. Each woman shined in their own light but South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe 2019.

Madison Anderson of Puerto Rico and Sofia Aragon of Mexico were the runners-up.

Zozibini Wants To Inspire

Miss Universe 2019 recognizes the difficulties for young girls with skin like her. She shares, “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me — with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful.” While her victory is for South Africa, she also hopes to inspire dark girls across the world.

She continues, “I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”
